‘His passion, professionalism, and creativity left a lasting mark’
INFLUENCER chef Michael Duarte has died in a “horrible accident” while travelling with his family.

The content creator, known online as “FoodwithBearHands”, was in Texas, just three day after his wedding anniversary, when he was tragically killed.

Michael, who amassed over two million followers online, was best known for cooking videos of BBQs and grills.

His bio on Instagram read: “my purpose is to share to the world food to people who need it the most.”

His family, who confirmed the chef’s death, paid tribute to the “loving” husband and dad who was a “great” friend to many.

In an emotional statement, his talent agency, Alooma Media Group, said: “It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our valued client and dear friend, Michael Duarte.”

They added: “He was a true & loyal partner, a trusted collaborator, and above all, a remarkable person.

“His passion, professionalism, and creativity left a lasting mark not only on our team but on everyone who had the privilege of working with him.”

A GoFundMe page was later set up to raise funds for the funeral expenses.

The post read: “This heartbreak came without warning, leaving Jessica to incur the expense of bringing him back home to California and covering funeral expenses.

“During this time, and in the months/years ahead, we want to make sure that Jessica and Oakley are taken care of as Michael would have wanted them to be.

“Your support would bring comfort, stability, and a reminder that they are not carrying this weight alone.”

Funeral plans for the late chef remain undecided but will be confirmed in due course.

His family added: “The funeral plans for Michael are undecided at this time, but we will update you all at a later date.

“The family deeply thanks you for your love and support as they grieve through this tragic loss.”

It comes as popular TV presenter and celebrity chef, Mynie Steffens, 43, died in a shock helicopter crash.

Steffens died alongside the helicopter pilot on Monday when the helicopter crashed to the ground on Roodegrond Farm at around 7:45 am.

Ruan Scheepers, the owner of Roodegrond Farm, said his workers had alerted him to the crash.

He said the tragic accident had been a frightening ordeal.

An investigation is underway into the incident, as officials look to identify the cause of the smash.

Authorities said no further details can be shared at this time; however, extended condolences to the victims’ families.

Steffens co-hosted a popular cooking and lifestyle programme on South African television.

She launched the show after reconnecting with a childhood friend.
