‘Devastation’ as 2 men die & multiple people rushed to hospital after horrific crash between bus, lorry & car in Meath

Bus Eireann has confirmed diversions to its route
TWO people have died and a number of others have been rushed to hospital following a horrific crash between a bus, lorry and a car this morning.
The lorry driver, aged in his 40s, and the Bus Eireann driver, aged in his 50s, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the collision in Gormanston, Co Meath.
A woman in her 40s, who was driving the car involved in the crash, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The passenger of the car, a teenage girl, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital before being transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Gardai confirmed that a number of people have also been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.
The horrific three-vehicle crash took place at around 6:30am this morning.
Bus Eireann confirmed one of its route 101 services was involved in the serious collision.
A spokesperson said: “Bus Eireann can confirm one of our route 101 services has been involved in a serious road traffic collision involving other vehicles in the Gormanston Cross area of County Meath this morning.
“Emergency services and Bus Eireann personnel are currently at the scene.
We will provide further information as it becomes available.”
Meath East Sinn Fein TD, Darren O’Rourke, said news of another fatal crash, which comes just over a week since five young people died in a collision in Co Louth, is “devastating”.
He said: “This is devastating news. I want to express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives.
“This shocking news comes just over a week after the devastating crash that took the lives of five young people in Dundalk.
“I want to thank the emergency services at the scene and hope for a speedy recovery for all of those injured.
“I know our local communities will rally around in support of those involved in the collision and their families who no doubt will be in a complete state of shock at this time.
“We must stand in solidarity with the families during this devastating time.”
ROAD CLOSURE & BUS DELAY
Gardai have closed the R132 road at Gormanston following the collision and confirmed local diversions are in place.
Forensic Collision Investigators are expected to conduct a technical examination of the scene later today.
Bus Eireann said its Route 101 and 101X services will be diverted to the M1 due to the “major incident” at Gormanston.
It advised passengers in Balbriggan, Co Dublin to use alternative public transport.
Gardai are urging anyone who may have any information or those who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132, at Gormanston, Co. Meath, between 5.45am and 6.45am this morning, Monday 24th November 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.
