A MAN IN his 60s died following an incident at the Tayto factory in Ashbourne, Co Meath this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to a fatal workplace accident this morning.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to Our Lady’s Hospital Navan for a post-mortem examination.
Tayto Snack Ltd said the deceased worked for an independent potato supplier.
In a statement, Tayto expressed “profound shock and sadness” over the incident.

It said it is assisting Gardaí with their enquiries and “working closely” with the Health and Safety Authority.
“The safety and wellbeing of all who attend on our site is our highest priority, and we are committed to supporting any investigations into today’s tragic incident,” the statement read.
Tayto Snacks Ltd said the next of kin of the deceased have been informed.
“Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues as they come to terms with this terrible loss,” it said.
Managing Director John O’Connor said: “We are devastated by today’s incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues impacted by this tragic loss of life”.
The Health and Safety Authority have said it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation.
