Heartache as ‘beautiful & hilarious’ Irish girl dies aged 6 after brain tumour battle & family pay devastating tribute

There has been an outpouring of grief from the local community
A FAMILY have paid heartbreaking tribute to their daughter, 6, who died after a brave battle with a brain tumour.
The tragic tot from Duncormick, Wexford, had been diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumour in August 2024.
Her family said: “We are heartbroken to share the news that our beautiful, kind, sassy and hilarious little Isla has gone to heaven.
“Isla will be missed and remembered every single day by her parents Padraig & Susie, her beloved [brothers] Paidi, Albie and Teidi.
“Isla touched so many hearts and brought laughter, craic and cheekiness everywhere she went.”
Isla’s funeral was held yesterday at The Church of The Assumption & St. Laurence O’Toole Rathangan.
The impact of Isla’s death on the community has been shown by the tributes that have flooded in.
Fastnet Rovers AFC said: “She touched the lives of so many and was a real fighter. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.”
St. Anne’s Ladies Football & Camogie Club said they will treasure the memory of Isla cutting the ribbon to open their new walking track last September.
And St Anne’s GAA club also extended their condolences to the devastated family.
Taghmon Rathangan Parish prayed that she would rest in eternal peace, and offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Childhood Cancer Ireland said they were “heartbroken” at the news, and that the little girl had “gained her wings”.
They wrote on social media: “Isla will be forever missed and remembered by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.”
‘LION-HEARTED GIRL’
Hundreds of others have offered their condolences to the family and shared their memories of Isla.
One mourner wrote: “I am so, so heartbroken for you all on your devastating loss of gorgeous and fun-loving little Isla.
“She was so brave and resilient over the last year, as you all have been. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
Another shared: “There are no words to capture a moment like this.
“Your strength today honoured your precious little girl and her radiance shone out like the sun as you spoke of her just as she was.
“The heavens has a new light to rival the brightest of stars.”
Isla was remembered by another as a “lion-hearted little girl” who was “full of fun”.
