Friends Watched, Tears Streaming, As She Pushed Each Step, With One Whispering, ‘She’s A Force Of Nature — Nothing Can Stop Her.’ Social Media Erupted: ‘Davina Is Pure Inspiration,’ Fans Cried, Shocked And Heartbroken At Her Courage
Davina McCall says she is feeling “super positive” as she laces up for her first run since completing treatment for breast cancer — marking a powerful milestone after one of the toughest years of her life.
The 58-year-old presenter shared the emotional update on Instagram, posting a beaming selfie in a bright red beanie after finishing what she called her “day one” jog. Davina told fans that getting back to running felt “so good for my head” and signalled a fresh chapter after months of fear, surgery and recovery.
Her comeback arrives almost exactly a year after she underwent a gruelling six-hour operation to remove a rare 14mm colloid cyst from her brain in November 2024 — a diagnosis she once described as “terrifying but life-changing.”
Then in early November this year, Davina revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer just six weeks prior after discovering a lump while filming The Masked Singer. She said she kept checking it because of a sign taped inside the toilet doors at the Lorraine studios reminding women to “check your breasts,” adding that she finally booked a biopsy when the lump “kept coming back.”
“It was breast cancer, and I had it taken out in a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago,” she explained at the time. “It was very very small, caught very very early, which is incredibly lucky.”

Doctors have since given her the all-clear, though she will undergo five sessions of radiotherapy in January as a precaution “insurance policy” to ensure the disease doesn’t return.
Davina admitted she felt “very angry” when she first received the diagnosis but said she has since released that anger and is now focused on moving forward. She also thanked her medical team, her family, and her fiancé Michael Douglas for their unwavering support.
Now, as she hits the pavement again, Davina says the simple act of running marks the beginning of a brighter phase. “First run! Yessss… feeling super positive,” she wrote — a message embraced by fans who have followed every step of her difficult journey.
