TV presenter & Instagram star, 28, dies after tragic battle with cervical cancer after appealing for surgery donations

The model and TV presenter was diagnosed with the disease in February last year
TV host and former beauty queen, Raquel Escalante, has tragically died after bravely battling cervical cancer for over a year.

The Instagram star died on Friday of kidney failure, after making a heartbreaking plea for financial assistance to help pay for the expensive surgery.

The-28-year-old was diagnosed with the disease in February 2024.

She had been awaiting a kidney transplant at the time of her death.

Escalante was the popular host of ‘Qué Chilero’ and other shows on TV Azteca Guate.

In January, the former Miss Guatemala Intercontinental made a tearful plea to her 88,000 social media followers, asking for help to pay for expensive kidney transplant surgery.

She had been documenting her journey with the disease on Instagram.

In one of her final posts in April, she shared glamorous photos of herself, captioned: “I’m not a model in these photos, I’m a woman who has experienced pain, who has faced fear, and who still chooses to keep shining”.

“This is me: body, soul, and spirit in God’s hands,” she wrote.

“And if this image touches your heart, let it be a reminder that you, too, can get up, again and again.”
