Horror as double-decker bus hangs over Irish beach after crashing into wall as shock snaps emerge amid Bus Eireann probe

BUS Eireann are investigating after a coach crashed through a wall in Co Waterford and was left hanging over the beach below.
Emergency services were alerted to the shocking scene in Ardmore after 9.45am on Wednesday morning.
According to the Irish Examiner, the driver of the double-decker bus is understood to have parked up in the carpark of a small church before the impact.
However, the bus then rolled from the parking spot and smashed through a large stone flowerpot.
The free rolling vehicle then mounted a footpath and collided with a stone wall.
Additionally, the large bus knocked down a signpost in its path.
The crash shattered the coach’s windscreen and damaged the wall, causing a large amount of loose brick to fall to the beach below.
After hitting the wall the bus became lodged among debris, but the front of the coach was left jutting out past the crumbling stone.
This front portion of the bus was balanced above a two-metre drop to the beach below.
Gardai and local fire crews raced to the scene yesterday morning, followed by Waterford City and County Council.
Personnel from Bus Eireann also attended the scene in Waterford yesterday.
The area was cordoned off as the large bus remained lodged in the unstable beachside wall.
There were no passengers on board the bus at the time of the horror crash.
And both Gardai and Bus Eireann have confirmed no injuries to any pedestrians were reported as a result of the incident.
OFFICIAL PROBE
The Transport for Ireland bus was being operated by Bus Eireann and serves Route 260 from Ardmore to Cork via Youghal.
It is reported the bus was just starting its route when the shocking collision occurred.
Bus Eireann has now confirmed an investigation has been launched into the incident.
A spokesperson said: “Gardai were alerted to the scene which was also attended by Bus Eireann personnel.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and no passengers were on board the service at the time.
“Bus Eireann are investigating how this incident occurred, as per standard procedure.”
