Irish star thanks fans for ‘prayers’ as she undergoes heart surgery days before Christmas

‘Now to focus on resting and healing’

IRISH star Shauna Lindsay has underwent heart surgery just days before Christmas.

The Limerick native recently revealed that she had suffered a stroke after a series of “unfortunate events”.

Shauna went through a “traumatic break-up” just before summer and then she found out that her mum had been diagnosed with cancer.

These highly stressful factors led to her having a stroke during her boxing class, despite feeling perfectly healthy in the run-up to it.

The 30-year-old had to undergo surgery in St Vincent’s Private Hospital to get an Occlutech implant fitted.

The device is used to permanently close holes and regulate blood flow in the heart.

Shauna took to Instagram yesterday to share an update on how her surgery went.

The model posed for a selfie with her thumb up in the hospital bed and said: “New heart for Crimbo.”

The influencer opened up about how tough the last year has been on her saying: “What an emotional rollercoaster it’s been, 2025 kicked my a** in a lot of ways but we keep it moving.

“Forever grateful that the surgery went well and even more grateful that it’s all over – the mental battle of these last few months has really been something let me tell ya.

“Now to focus on resting and healing and coming back stronger and better than ever before.”

Shauna shared how grateful she is for her fans’ support saying: “Thank you for all the love and prayers sent my way.

“Will update ye in more detail on everything when I can.”

Shauna’s friends and fans flooded her comment section with even more support and loving messages.

2FM host Laura Fox wrote: “Sending you all the love and hope you have a speedy recovery.”

Freya said: “Sending love and healing.”

Courtney commented: “Sending so many hugs.”

Last month Shauna posted the footage of the moment she fell to the floor and had a stroke – after accidentally catching it on video.

Shauna was working out with her trainer when she felt her arm go completely numb.

In the video, Shauna can be seen hunching down on the ground after failing to swing her punches.

She slowed down the footage and her face can be seen drooping on one side as she raced to the bathroom in a panic.

From there, Shauna’s pal came to the rescue when she found her collapsed on the bathroom floor and rushed her to the hospital. 

Shauna remembered how the words that were coming out of her mouth were totally different from what she was trying to say.
