Horror murder-suicide latest as Dublin boy, 12, & dad pictured and tragic discovery details emerge amid local ‘shock’

Both Oisin and Wayne were reported missing on October 17 last year but were found the following day safe and well
A DEVASTATED relative discovered the body of a 12-year-old boy who was killed in a horror murder-suicide, the Irish Sun has learned.
Young Oisin O’Reilly was found lifeless at his home on Lealand Drive in Clondalkin, west Dublin this morning.

Beforehand, his father Wayne O’Reilly’s body was found at a separate location at Cherry Orchard Drive in Ballyfermot at 8.30am.
Detectives probing the case believe dad Wayne, 48, murdered his son in the early hours of Thursday morning at the home where they lived before fleeing.
They then suspect he made his way to the second property in Ballyfermot where he took his own life in the back garden.
Due to previous interactions with gardai, they immediately raised concerns for the child’s welfare.
It’s understood a relative then found the boy’s body in the Clondalkin home.
The gardai contacted the child’s mother to tell her of the horrendous news.
The Irish Sun understands that there were no visible signs of injuries to little Oisin.
Investigators are awaiting post mortem results to confirm the cause of death.
A source said: “This is another awful case which is suspected to be murder suicide.
“A young boy is dead and died in violent circumstances and, as it stands, it looks like his father carried it out before taking his own life.
“The post-mortems have to take place to confirm this, but the gardai have their firm belief.”
REPORTED MISSING
Both Oisin and Wayne were reported missing on October 17 last year but were found the following day safe and well.
Gardai had previously engaged with Wayne over mental health matters; however, sources also said he had a history of drug abuse.
Tusla, the child and family agency, confirmed that Oisin and his family were known to them but stated he was not in the care of the State.
The son and father lived at Lealand Drive in Clondalkin, Wayne’s home where he grew up.
Tragically the property, with a garda cordon surrounding it today, is directly across from Talbot National School which was attended by little Manchester United fan Oisin.
Locals were left completely stunned as the news emerged today.
‘WE’RE JUST HEARTBROKEN’
One told the Irish Sun: “We’re just heartbroken. I would have seen the young lad cycle up and down this road.
“He was a little slight boy, but a gorgeous lad. There’s so many questions for everyone, will we ever get the why? Probably not.
“It’s just so sad.”
Another resident told us: “It’s just such a shock. I learned about it this morning. And when I collected my son from school, I knew he was going to hear about it in some way so I had to tell him in a way that I felt he should hear it in.
“That was hard. And it’s just going to be very hard for children to understand.”
‘DEEPLY DISTRESSING’
Sinn Fein Councillor Daithí Doolan told how it was “deeply distressing news.”
He explained: “The whole community is in shock. We offer our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased. The family are in our thoughts at this awful time.
“There is a long and painful journey ahead for this family, but this community will support them every step of the way.
“I would appeal to people not to speculate on social media as this can often cause further pain for grieving families. But, if anyone has any information to please come forward and contact the Garda and help them with their investigation.”
At the scene in Clondalkin, the body of Oisin remained at the house for a number of hours as a forensic investigation took place before it was removed for a post-mortem, which is to take place tonight.

Gardai are expecting to get results from the examination at some stage tomorrow.
The scene where dad Wayne’s remains were found also remained sealed off today for examination, although his body was brought to the city morgue earlier.
Gardai stressed they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the investigation.
COPS TO PROBE CASE THOROUGHLY
Although the suspected killer is dead, cops will probe the case thoroughly before sending a file for the coroner.
In a statement from garda headquarters today, a spokesman said: “Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies at domestic residences in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 & Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on Thursday 8th January 2026.
“Gardaí and emergency services were called to a domestic residence in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot this morning at approximately 8:30am. A body of a male (aged in his 40s) was discovered deceased at the scene.
“In follow up enquiries the body of a male child was discovered at a domestic residence in Clondalkin.”
LOCATION PRESERVED
It continued: “Both locations have been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
“The Coroner has been notified and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
“The body of the male adult has been removed from the scene to the city morgue. The body of the male child remains at the scene.
“Post-mortem examinations will be arranged in due course.
“The results of these examinations will assist Gardaí in determining the course of the investigation.
“The investigation is being carried out under a Senior Investigating Officer.”
‘DEATH OF A CHILD IS TRAGEDY’
A Tusla spokesperson said: “Tusla – Child and Family Agency can confirm that we were advised earlier today of the death of a young boy in Dublin South City.
“The death of a child is a tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family, all those who knew him, and the local community at this difficult time.
“This young boy was not in the care of the state, however he and his family were known to Tusla.
“We continue to engage with An Garda Síochána as they conduct their investigation, and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
