Sean Little gangland murder probe latest as gardai detail ‘some progress’ & ‘defined line of inquiry’ in killers hunt

Detectives believe he was lured to the scene of the shooting by someone he knew and trusted

GANGLAND victim Sean Little’s inquest was delayed further today — after cops revealed they are still hunting his killers.

The Dubliner, 22, was shot dead, with his body left by his burning Vauxhall Insignia off the M1 ­motorway outside Balbriggan, Co Dublin, late on May 21, 2019.

Detective Inspector Brian Downey today told how officers were following “a defined line of inquiry”.

And he told Dublin District Coroner’s Court Coroner Clare Keane there had been “some progress” since the inquest was last updated on the progress of the Garda investigation.

Little, 22, from Kilmore, Dublin 5, was blasted dead in a lane at Rowans Little, near Walshestown, a short distance from Junction 5 on the M1.

A post-mortem previously confirmed he had died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

He was known to Gardai and was believed to have been involved in organised crime with links to the Kinahan cartel, although he had no serious convictions.

Detectives believe he was murdered as part of an ongoing feud between rival gangs in the Coolock area and was lured to the scene of the shooting by someone he knew and trusted.

Cops also suspect a black saloon-type vehicle that was seen following Little’s car off the M1 at around 11pm on May 21, 2019, before rejoining a few minutes later with its ­headlights off, may have been involved in his murder.

Det Insp Downey today applied for a six-month adjournment of the inquest into Little’s death as criminal proceedings are still under consideration in the case.

This was granted by Dr Keane, who adjourned for a further update to June 16, 2026.

A week after Little’s murder, another man, Hamid Sanambar, 34, was shot dead outside the deceased’s home as people attended his wake on May 28, 2019.

Sanambar is believed to have engaged in criminal activity with Little and was suspected of having played a role in organising his murder.

In August 2020, the deceased’s father, Stephen Little, 52, was sentenced to six years in prison over plans to avenge his son’s murder.

He told gardai after his arrest that “had you given me another hour, I would have killed the b****** that killed him”, a court previously heard.
