Tributes to ‘true gentleman’ Limerick farmer, 58, who tragically died after falling through shed roof while working

Eamonn’s family thanked everyone who tried to help after the tragic accident took place
TRIBUTES have been paid to a tragic farmer who fell through a shed roof while working on his own farm.
Eamonn Sheehan, 58, from Athlacca in Co Limerick, has been remembered as a loyal community member, great farmer and devout family man.
Locals said Eamonn was a gentleman and served on the board of management of the local primary school in Athlacca.
Athlacca National School described him as “a true gentleman and we thought highly of him in school as a parent and as a treasured member of our board of management”.
Eamonn fell through a shed roof while working on his own farm on Tuesday afternoon and later died in Cork University Hospital (CUH) on Wednesday evening.
His family paid tribute to him in an online death notice.
It read: “Eamonn passed away peacefully after an accident surrounded by his loving wife and family in Cork University hospital (CUH) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
“Predeceased by his mother Ann.
“Beloved son of John, husband of Margaret (née Coleman) and much loved father of Anna, Ellie, Edmund, Cormac and Davy.
“Dear brother of Gerard, Tony, Deirdre, Kay, Maeve and Brid.
“Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife, family, uncle Dan, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.”
The statement added: “Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu, to charities desired.

“Eamonn’s family would like to say thank you to all of their neighbours, first responders, air ambulance service, paramedics, Gardai, fire service and all who attended to Eamonn.”
Gardai told how emergency services got a distress call at 12.54pm on Tuesday about a man suffering a fall on a farm in Clogher, Athlacca.
Emergency services including the air ambulance, gardai and four units of the fire brigade – two from Kilmallock and two from Limerick City fire service – all attended the scene.
A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority said that they “have launched an investigation”.
