Hunt for missing teen, 14, after bike found & man, 28, last seen at bus stop as river searched & garda pleas issued

Rescuers have said they face tricky conditions
A DESPERATE search is underway for a teenage boy and a man who have gone missing separately in Co Meath.

Cops have launched desperate appeals for information as the searches for Benjamin Spot, 14, and Jordan Newman, 28, continue.

Gardai, Meath River Rescue and the Civil Defence Force have scoured the River Boyne and the surrounding area without success.

A cop helicopter was called in on Tuesday to assist in the search and drones, boats and dog units have combed the area.

Meath Civil Defence Force said yesterday: “The search continued today for Jordan and Benjamin.

“We had four bank search teams involved throughout the day. The search continues tomorrow.”

Christopher Rennicks of Meath River Rescue told the Meath Chronicle that conditions were too dangerous for divers at the moment.

He said: “We carry on and hope that we can bring some sort of closure to families affected.

“Conditions are quite difficult but we’re used to that too, we just have to keep going.”

Benjamin Spot, 14, was last seen in Navan, Co Meath, on November 19.

He was last seen cycling from the Market Square towards Kentstown Road or the Ramparts area of Navan at around 5.55pm.

His bike was found at the Ramparts the following day.

Benjamin’s family and gardai have said they are “concerned for his wellbeing”.

The fourteen-year-old is described as being approximately 5 foot 1 inches in height, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

CALL HOME PLEA

Search parties are also rushing to find Jordan Newman, 28, who was last seen on November 10 on Dublin Road in Navan.

He was last seen at a bus stop on the Dublin bound side of the road, across from the Ardboyne Hotel at around 0.15am.

His family and gardai are “very concerned” and there has been “no contact” with him.

Jordan is described as being 6ft 3in, weighing 15st and having tight blond hair.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, yellow t-shirt and a black tracksuit.

Gardai have made a direct appeal to Jordan to make contact with his family to let them know he is safe.

They have also called on anyone in the area who might have dashcam footage or CCTV footage of the buses that travel on that route to get in touch with them.
