Tributes pour for ‘lovely lady’, 73, killed in St Stephen’s Day crash on Irish road as family in funeral update

She was a former staff member of a local hospital
TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who tragically lost her life in a serious two-vehicle road collision in Co Down on St Stephen’s Day.

Angela Feenan, 73, from Ballee in Downpatrick, tragically died at the scene following the crash on the Ardglass Road at around 5.40pm.

Angela had been driving a black Seat Arona when she was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Insignia.

Emergency services attended shortly after but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment following the collision.

The cops revealed that the injuries were understood to be not life-threatening.

The woman was named locally as Angela Feenan and her heartbroken family have now confirmed her tragic death via Down Funeral Directors.

The family said: “Dearly beloved daughter of the late Edward and Margaret, devoted mother to Diane, loving mother-in-law to Andrew and cherished granny of Eve and Ella Rose.

“Deeply regretted by her sorrowing daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, siblings Margaret, Nora, Grace, Frederick and Richard, nieces, nephews and large circle of family and friends.”

The family stated that funeral arrangements will be made soon.

The popular woman was former staff member of Downshire Hospital, where she had a huge impact on her staff and patients.

Her death has sent shockwaves through the local community with heartbreaking messages pouring in following the sudden loss.

One mourner said: “Rest in peace, Angela. Remember Angela in Wd 30, she was always smiling, never a dull moment, many’s a laugh we had.

“Happy memories, thoughts and prayers with Angela’s daughter Diane and the entire family circle.”

A local wrote: “Rest in Peace Angela…. remember her in the Downshire back in the day. She was a lovely lady and good craic too.

“Deepest sympathy to her daughter and family at this sad time.”

Another former colleague said: “Thinking of you all at this heartbreaking time. Worked with Angela many year’s ago in the Downshire, such a lovely lady. RIP Angela.”

And another colleague added: “Very sorry to see this, I knew Angela when we all worked in Downshire Hosp. Thoughts and prayers are with her daughter and family.”

A heartbroken mourner wrote: “Very sad news. Angela was a lovely lady, always had time for a chat!

“Thinking of her family at this time. RIP.”
